About Me

I've written all my life. Prose, poetry, professional writing. I've practised mindfulness for more than 30 years, firstly as Buddhist and more recently training as a secular mindfulness teacher. One of my favourite forms of creative writing is the haiku. I started writing a regular, almost daily haiku, in 2020 during lockdown.

I have notebooks of my creative writing going back to when I was a teenager. Writing has always been a very important part of my
expression and reflection. I believe we all have something to express and say and just need the right conditions and head space to be able to do so.

I'm very influenced in my approach by the work of Natalie Goldberg whose books Writing Down the Bones and Wildmind gave me the confidence to just pick up a pen and write. When I look back at some of the writing I have done in the past I surprise myself with what I have set down.

Mindfulness allows me to be present, aware, slow down enough to give space to my imagination. Creative writing allows me to explore my inner world. Both practices are very beneficial for wellbeing. Together they weave a little magic.
